FramingNano Conference in the Stade de Suisse in Bern (Switzerland) on March 18th, 2010
FramingNano, an FP7 funded project run by six international partners, led to the proposal for an integrated Governance Platform for responsible development of nanosciences and nanotechnologies. At the FramingNano National Conference in Bern (Switzerland), the proposed Governance Platform will be presented to a broader audience and possible ways of implementation will be discussed with national and international stakeholders. Registration to the conference is open now until the 10th of March, 2010.
The expectations on nanotechnologies are high. It is widely shared that the promised benefits will fully materialise only if there is a governance system in place which addresses, in a timely manner, the potential risks and concerns associated with the development of nanosciences and nanotechnologies and the corresponding nanotechnology induced changes.
FramingNano, an FP7 funded project run by six international partners, started in May 2008 and aimed to address the challenges of nanotechnology governance at the European level. The main outcome of the FramingNano project is the proposal for a Governance Platform.
The Innovation Society, St.Gallen, is the Swiss Partner in the FramingNano Project Consortium and in charge of organising the national conference in Switzerland. We are pleased to invite you to the Swiss National FramingNano Conference in the Stade de Suisse in the vicinity of Bern on the 18th of March 2010.

THE FRAMINGNANO GOVERNANCE PLATFORM
The FramingNano Governance Platform is to enable the responsible development of nanotechnologies, making possible the realisation of the benefits they promise, while limiting the risks and concerns associated with them and remaining sensitive to public concerns and changes induced by these technologies. The Governance Platform provides a framework of principles, procedures and responsibilities which indicate how the model of responsible, integrated and open nanotechnology governance in Europe and beyond could look like.
PROGRAMME
The FramingNano conference aims to:
- present the FramingNano Governance Platform to a broader audience
- present and discuss national and international activities in nanotechnology governance (EU-Action Plan, EU-Code of Conduct, etc.)
- discuss possible ways of implementing the Governance Platform in European countries
- discuss synergies and measures among international stakeholders.
A detailed programme of the conference can be found here.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The conference is addressing representatives from national and international regulatory bodies, politics, NGOs, any interested stakeholders and the broader public. Although this is a national conference, the focus of the conference is not restricted to Switzerland and the programme includes many speakers from EU level.
The conference language is englisch (without interpretation).
REGISTRATION
We can only host a limited number of participants (first come, first served).
Registration deadline: The registration is open until 10th of March 2010.
Participation fee: Adults: 100 CHF / 75 € (including lunch, documentation and refreshments). An invoice will be sent to attendees prior to the conference. Student discount: 50% (student card required).
